Factors that Affect Your Moving Cost
- The Cost of Local Move
- The Cost of Long Distance Move
- The Cost of Storage Services
- The Cost of Packing Services
- The Cost of Protection Coverage
- The Cost of Long Carry Charge
As a professional moving company, we understand how important it is to know the cost of your move. We highly value our customers. The price itself depends on several factors. The cost of the move itself may depend on the destination you are moving to and the type of service you choose. Whether you’re moving locally or long distance, pricing may be different. Here is the breakdown of all possible moving costs.
The cost of Local Move
You can always contact our sales representative for more information on price and discounts. You can even choose between 3 different packages. The package prices depend on what goes into the package offer. So, you can choose between:
- 2 Movers + Truck/Hrs – 120 $
- 3 Movers + Truck/Hrs – 150 $
- 4 Movers + Truck/Hrs – 180 $
Tool, gas, mileage, and taxes, detailed inventory list, packing and unpacking, loading and unloading, as well as standard valuation protection, are included in every package. The only thing that can affect your moving cost is the number of movers you choose.
The cost of Long Distance Move
The main factor that can affect your long-distance move is the number of items you need to move and how much they weigh. It’s best if you look at your detailed itemized inventory list. Our clients will have moving and storage options for a long-distance move. The prices depend on what option you choose. Sometimes long-distance moves require additional moving options. Zip Moving and Storage is a full-service company that offers:
- Packing service
- Storage service
- Labor only services for long-distance
These three options can affect the price of your long-distance move, but sometimes it’s worth the extra money because all your belongings will be professionally packed, loaded, unloaded, or stored. Moving is not an easy task, so choosing these options will minimize the risk of any damage.
The cost of Storage Service
The amount of belongings you would like to move can affect the price of our storage services. Storage units are charged daily. The cost will also depend on what storage service you want. You can choose between long-term and short-term storage. Our company has very secure and spacious storage services in Maryland, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Atlanta. Here are the prices:
- Long Term Storage – over one month 71 $
- Short Term Storage – less than one month 44 $
Whatever option you choose, you can be sure that all your items will be safely secured and they will be handled with expert care. Also, our storage services are under video surveillance 24/7.
The cost of Packing Service
Our company offers different types of packing services. Of course, the price may vary depending on what option you choose. Our team has professional packers and expert movers. When moving both locally and long-distance, our customers will get estimates that include a rate for packing services. Whether you hire 2, 3, or 4 professional packers/movers, your price may vary. The exact cost of our packing services will depend on the number of customers items:
- Self-pack/ custom pack – Customer, will pack the contents of their home
- Partial packing service (fragile items like tv, paintings, mirrors, glass tops) – Our packer can bring special moving blankets to wrap and protect your fragile items, and you will be provided with an expert packing team
- Full packing service – If you choose this option, our packers/movers will pack everything for you with utmost care and precision. We will also provide the materials and the contents of your home.
It is up to you to decide what suits you the most. The packing material you end up using on the day of the move is the one you will be charged for.
The cost of Protection Coverage
Our moving company offers compensation for all your belongings if they get lost or get damaged, which is unlikely, but it can still happen. That’s why we have a moving protection plan. It’s best if you calculate the worth of your belongings. You should carefully consider all protection plans and decide which one works for you the best when planning your move.
Every moving company has the Basic Liability Insurance included, which means that the items are insured at 60 cents per pound per article. Meaning if something was to get damaged, customers can always contact our claim center and get reimbursed at 60 cents per pound per item.
The cost of Long Carry Charge
This cost can be a bit surprising to some customers. The cost of the Long Carry Charge depends on the distance from where the truck is parked to where the apartment or house is located. If there is a long hallway to reach the elevators or a steep driveway, our movers will have to do all the heavy lifting and walk for an extended period of time, and therefore the move will take longer to complete. So that distance goes into the cost of the long carry charge.
