Plan your move during winter or spring
Moving, whether locally or long-distance, is an endeavor, both financially and organizationally. Planning your move and executing your plans will save you money and time. There are a couple of factors to take into consideration when looking for a viable moving date:
Avoid the busiest days of the month
It is highly advised that you do not book your move from the 20th-31st of the month. The end of the month is our busiest period and booking our services during that time will cost you more.
For summer moves, book your move date at least four weeks in advance
Scheduling a move in advance has many advantages, with one of the most important being the abundance of time you will have to make detailed plans.
Saving the moving date four weeks in advance for summer moves will give you enough time to plan the details of your relocation. Booking a move date early is important – summer is our peak season and we want you to be able to choose a date that works with your schedule!
Pack and unpack belongings by yourself
Packing and unpacking are two of the most time-consuming aspects of the moving process. If not done right, improper packing can lead to damaged belongings. To avoid that possible worst-case scenario, booking professional packers for your move is a recommended additional service.
Choosing to pack and unpack your belongings yourself is possible, however, but can be a stressful process. See our packing and unpacking tips for guidance to alleviate the stress.
Avoid moving furniture you do not need
Bulky furniture is an obstacle that our professional movers can overcome. Furniture such as large beds, wardrobes, desks, and large household appliances can be some of the heaviest items to move. Opting not to move some of these items will be beneficial to cost as you will not be paying for the moving labor.
Moving to a new home is a great time to declutter and get rid of household items you no longer need.
Source free boxes
You can save money by sourcing free moving boxes since cardboard boxes are a moving expense that can be avoided. Checking places such as Craigslist, Freecycle, liquor stores, bookstores and grocery stores for recycled cardboard boxes is something to consider if you are looking to save money!
